Ruth Williams

Welcome to the Ruth Williams Dance Studio family, a project of the Ruth Williams Dance Foundation, Inc., that has been located in Central Harlem for the last 58 years. Starting with only 40 youngsters, the Studio has steadily increased its enrollment of students ranging in age from 3 to adult. Offering a variety of dance forms - tap, ballet, pointe, jazz, modern, folklore, African, hip hop and more - we strive to develop the personal desire of each student to express their inherent gift of rhythm and style. The recital students get to showcase their hard work at our yearly recital that continues to get rave reviews. We also offer a non-recital program and summer dance intensive.

The primary goals of the RWDS are to:

� Maximize artistic potential,
� boost self-esteem and instill respect for oneself and others,
� help develop new and lasting friendships and
� provide a safe environment to learn the art of dance.

The staff is always available to answer questions and address concerns. Our group of dedicated, professional choreographers provides a caring and structured atmosphere for each member of their class. Our success is mainly due to the support of the parents/guardians, relatives, friends and sponsors who share our vision. All of our programs advance the mission of the Foundation to teach dance in multi-disciplines and increase the RWDF exposure and audience.

The Ruth Williams Dance Studio has prepared many students to become professionals in various areas of the arts and notes the particular success of former alumni, Aziza, Brenda Braxton, Anastasia Bain, Danny Mixon, and Rochelle Aytes.
